Research

Disorder is not a nuisance to be averaged away: it changes the nature of the electronic states themselves.

Disordered systems and quantum transport

Electron transport in strongly disordered materials, where interference and electron–electron interactions compete with randomness. This includes hopping conduction, Anderson localization, and the collective effects that appear when Coulomb interactions cannot be neglected.

Superconductor–insulator transitions in amorphous thin films

Experimental and numerical study of the transition between superconducting and insulating behaviour in amorphous films — a setting in which a single tuning parameter drives a system across a genuine quantum phase transition.

Quantum information and computation

Work at the interface between many-body physics and quantum information, including numerical approaches to correlated quantum systems.
